I Do OR No, I don't
“Aww!! Not married yet?”
“Are you seeing anyone?”
“Gawd! No plans of settling down?”
Some routine questions bombarded to you if you’re single. And if you know from where I am coming, then no matter how many figures you draw on your pay cheque, you will always be considered unsettled until you take the plunge.
Men may come and go in your life but all that matters is to tie the knot with someone, doesn’t really matter whether you really are in a mood to share and care. And marriage is all that and much more. Sharing the room, wardrobe, bed and most importantly your loo; the thought is scary right? Makes me wonder did our mothers too have to go through this dilemma?
Now, I am pretty sure that men too face the same uncertainty of ‘to be or not to be’. But the idea of ‘free sex’ all through their lives maybe quite a temptation to forgo…what say?
While members of my tribe, with financial stability, is definitely on a double mind. After all doesn’t it get all tiring to make that extra cup of coffee/tea coming back from work? Picking up that damp towel from your favourite couch? Closing the lids of shampoo bottles, tooth paste, creams, body soaps or whatever after him? And the battle continues…
Marriage isn’t everybody’s piece of cake and luckily, if you are smart enough to realize before the knot is tied tightly all round you, why doesn’t the society applaud you for your smartness?
Maybe we are all too jealous to see others happy and free. Maybe we love thinking, “if I weren’t spared then why should she?”
